It must cover emergency medical, hospitalization and repatriations, be valid for your entire stay and have a minimum coverage of &euro;30,000.

Recent announcements made by American Airlines, British Airways, and United Airlines are opening up the possibility to streamline the process of entering Europe through the United kingdom for all American travellers.
The number of direct flights between the US and the UK was reduced dramatically since the beginning of the pandemic.
As more countries around the world begin accepting travellers presenting a recent COVID-19 certificate, airlines have taken notice.
Soon, passengers may be offered to take part in a series of trials, estimating whether preflight rapid-testing can be a viable solution to lift travel limitations imposed by both countries and likely others in the near future.

There are two separate programs:
The first testing program, announced on Nov. 17 by American Airlines and British Airways, will start trials on Nov. 25 on flights to Heathrow Airport departing from Dallas&rsquo; DFW Airport, New York's JFK Airport and Los Angeles(LAX) Airport. Another JFK flight will join the program soon, but the date has not been set yet, stated American Airlines in their press release.
Volunteers who sign up for the program will need to go through three free Covid-19 tests: a self-administered RT-PCR (nasal swab) test taken at home with online assistance of a medical professional 72 hours before takeoff; a LAMP(nasal swab) test taken after arrival at Heathrow Airport; and a self-administered saliva test taken at home after three days of stay in the U.K. Even if all tests are negative, passengers will still need to self-isolate for the total of the 14 days.
The second program, launched on Nov. 16, is a United Airlines initiative &ndash; the company started a research that requires a preflight rapid-test on flights from Newark Liberty International Airport to Heathrow Airport. The testing is free; partaking in United&rsquo;s program is mandatory for all passengers over 2 years old - those who do not want to take part in the trial will be offered to move onto a different flight free of charge.
&nbsp;
Instead of 3 tests required by A.A. and B.A., only a rapid Abbott ID Now test is needed; although there are concerns associated with United Airlines&rsquo; choice with medical professionals being split over the lower 80% threshold for the Abbott and other point-of-care tests&rsquo; &ldquo;sensitivity&rdquo;.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
&ldquo;Participants may receive a false positive or a false negative finding, and have to agree that United bears no responsibility for an inaccurate test result and any resulting consequences if partaking&rdquo;. Stated United&rsquo;s spoke person, to justify inaccuracy concerns surrounding asymptomatic cases.
&nbsp;
To perform a test passengers will have to make an appointment at least 3 hours prior to their departure, the airline advises; results can be obtained approximately 30 minutes later. Passengers who test positive won&rsquo;t be able to board; they will either be refunded or re-booked on another flight departing at least 10 days later upon request. They will be required to provide evidence of two consecutive negative Covid-19 results to board a re-booked flight.
Said programs are the UK's attempt at evaluating testing as a mean to minimize the self-isolation and quarantine period for travellers.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
"We believe the results provided by this trial will be vital for reopening transatlantic travel safely," Doug Parker, CEO of American Airlines.
&nbsp;
Unfortunately, a single preflight test will likely not convince more cautious countries registering 0 to few cases &mdash; such as New Zealand, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam &mdash; to open their borders anytime soon.&nbsp;

In a much-anticipated speech at a press conference in Brussels, the EU Commission spokesman Adalbert Jahnz announced the Commission's commitment to ending the long-enduring separation of EU residents from their loved ones abroad.

It did so by pressing the EU members to adopt such measure in a letter directed to all member states, and by exempting them from entry ban restrictions targeting certain nations.
&ldquo;Under the current legal situation, Member States can allow unmarried partners with duly attested relationships to enter the EU if they choose to do so. We repeatedly encouraged the Member States to use this possibility. Currently, only a minority of the Member States do so,&rdquo;
This issue has been afflicting millions worldwide since the travel ban and lockdown measures were put in place. Under the current rule, only residents of the Union states, as well as EEA, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay and micronations, such as Monaco, Andorra, San Marino and Vatican City can travel the bloc (mostly) restriction-free.
All this was possible also thanks to the online community's commotion, under the banners of #LoveIsNotTourism #LoveIsEssential, among other movements, who's creators have now praised the EU for leading the way on such a heartfelt issue.
Some countries had already taken similar steps; following the Commission's conference and online outcry, Germany has announced that it will readmit foreign partners in the country, starting on Monday 10th of August, and has also pledged to coordinate a unified EU response, in support of the initiative.
Currently, it is up to each nation to individually decide on exemptions to the EU entry ban, however, several member states have yet to pronounce on possible resolutions.&nbsp;
Only 9 states have so far implemented some measures to lift entry bans on "third countries" cross-border relationships;&nbsp; Restrictions such as COVID-19 testing and quarantine remain in place, and they will also be required to provide extensive evidence of their long-standing relationship.

Is the overwhelming amount of hatred that is thrown at people for anything but 100% submissive compliance justified?&nbsp;
Is this the cost of patching the incomplete response of our strained institutions?
None is here arguing the necessity of a worldwide lockdown, but we must make some clarity on the consequences that such measure will have on many's mental health.

As the media machine now entirely revolves around the COVID-19 rising infected numbers, death tolls, virus transmission updates, and the <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://canitravel.net/news/why-covid-19-cases-are-nowhere-near-the-amount-you-see" target="_blank" rel="noopener">eye-popping state of our unprepared, struggling institutions</a>; anxiety and fear seem like very understandable emotions.
And however fascinating it may seem, to see the whole world, rallying behind one single powerful message, it is ever more clear, that allowing anxious and bored adults, able to devote the entirety of their days to dubiously helpful activities such as: patrolling parks and stations, spying on the neighbours and commenting whatever crosses their social media feeds, isn't exactly the best response.

Isolation is taking a toll on all of us, with emphasis on the most vulnerable, starting with the elderly, all the way down to children, parents and anyone without savings or that lives alone without pets or flatmates.
Domestic abuse numbers are on the rise since the worldwide lockdown started and confined conditions, as well as overwhelmed hotlines and all the pressure to stay inside no matter what, are only making things worse.
It is underreported, how many of us are spending such an uncertain period of our lives alone, in complete isolation, or deeply distressing conditions, with our screens serving as the main form of outer interaction. Thus, this is indeed something we are all going through, the pressure is unevenly distributed and some may benefit greatly from the occasional lockdown transgression.
As humans we use a lot of shortcuts to streamline our lives: we sleep on the same side of the bed, sit at the same part of the table, match different clothes based on days of the week and reach a completely different headspace based on space, time and location.&nbsp;
Taking those pillars away will strongly affect our physical and mental health, many have reported a sharp increase in stress, sleeplessness and procrastination since the lockdown began.
Routines are more part of our lives than we credit them for. And disruption of such a delicate ecosystem has dire repercussions on our mental state.

Defining roles is complicated, isolation is dehumanising and whether it turns you or your neighbour into a ruthless online juror or a victim of this insane news cycle, it is something that we all need to address, and without taking action now, we'll bare the consequences for the foreseeable future.

Early on in the coronavirus pandemic, it was suggested that some governments were hiding the true total of COVID-19 deaths in their countries. Two countries accused of this were Iran and China. It raises questions as to why governments would do this. Are they wanting to play-down the figures, so as not to cause panic and fear in their citizens? Are they hiding their figures from other countries, so as not to show their country has been weakened and incapacitated by the coronavirus? Are they worried they&rsquo;d be judged negatively for poor planning or medical care if they reported the true numbers of cases and deaths?
<h4>Iran</h4>
In a March article by The Observers, they suggest that in Iran, &ldquo;regional officials are reporting higher rates in their own areas, and publicly questioning the statistics being announced by the Health Ministry.&rdquo; They continue to state that hospital administrators have been advising doctors treating coronavirus patients to list other causes of death, such as pneumonia, heart-attacks, tuberculosis, and pulmonary embolism on death certificates. Doctors were only allowed to write COVID-19 if there was a positive result from a screening test. People had begun to notice that far more people were being buried at cemeteries than reported.
<h4>China</h4>
An April article in Bloomberg suggests that US Intelligence has found that China concealed the extent of the outbreak there, it is thought that they've been deliberately under-reporting on the number of cases and deaths, giving statistics that were fake and falsified. President Trump commented that China&rsquo;s numbers were &ldquo;a little bit on the light side.&rdquo; It is thought that China may have had its outbreak, a month before it started reporting cases. This move from China was designed to retain internal support; in order to <a style="color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline;" href="https://canitravel.net/news/forget-today-s-struggle-covid-19-economic-consequences-will-be-far-worse" target="_blank" rel="noopener">safeguard the economy&nbsp;and prevent further Covid-19 backlash.</a>

On Friday 10th April, in the UK newspaper The Mail Online it reported that the 980 UK deaths that day from COVID-19, was Europe&rsquo;s highest single-day death toll, surpassing Italy and Spain. That same day it was alleged that 5,706 more patients had tested positive with the coronavirus. The article is contradictory though, as it later states, that &ldquo;France, however, is recording higher death tolls &ndash; up to 2,000 a day because it is routinely recording deaths that happen in care homes as well as hospitals, something most nations aren&rsquo;t doing.&rdquo; Last time I checked; France was in Europe! This immediately highlights, however, that different countries have different processes for recording coronavirus related deaths, which means the public isn&rsquo;t given accurate statistics and that statistics between countries can&rsquo;t be reliably compared.&nbsp;If many countries aren&rsquo;t including care home deaths from COVID-19 this could be missing out on a large part of the population, especially as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions are considered one of the higher risk groups if they catch this.
<h3>Individuals Hiding that they have Coronavirus</h3>
Another aspect that should be considered, is that some people may have mild symptoms of coronavirus, and therefore may be unaware they have it, or they could attribute the symptoms to another illness, such as flu, or chest-infection and they may feel under the weather, but not require hospital assistance. Some of these people may genuinely just not realize.&nbsp;
Whereas other people may suspect they have COVID-19 and try to conceal this deliberately. This could be for numerous reasons including:&nbsp;

<li>They may worry that they won&rsquo;t receive pay if they don&rsquo;t go into work.</li>
<li>If families are separated, they may worry they wouldn&rsquo;t see their children, if they mentioned the symptoms.</li>
<li>If someone doesn&rsquo;t have health-care insurance, they may try to treat symptoms at home, because they can&rsquo;t afford medical care.</li>
<li>People may have no-one to care for their children, relatives, or pets if they announce their coronavirus symptoms.&nbsp;</li>
<li>People want to travel.&nbsp;</li>

An article in the Guardian newspaper has suggested that people hiding their coronavirus &ldquo;could thwart containment efforts,&rdquo; because it is so highly contagious.&nbsp; The suggestion is that people should report their illness, <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://canitravel.net/news/stayhome-public-health-vs-mental-health" target="_blank" rel="noopener">self-isolate, and stay at home</a>. There is the case of the ex-Biogen employee who took medication to reduce her fever so that she could board a plane and bypass travel restrictions to fly to China, she does now face criminal charges.&nbsp;
These are three reasons here, amongst many, for why the numbers we&rsquo;re given about cases of COVID-19 and deaths from it, may not be as high as we are led to believe.&nbsp;
