The Fiji government has announced changes to International travel due to COVID-19. Only residents and Fijian citizens are allowed to return to Fiji. Air New Zealand have indicated they will operate a number of flights between Auckland and Nadi. Fiji Airways have indicated they will continue to operate ad hoc flights. Returning residents and citizens must request permission to enter Fiji from the COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Taskforce (CRMT). To do this you will need to email the following documents to email@example.com: Letter addressed to the Chair COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Taskforce providing background to your request; Copy of passport bio-data page; Copy of the valid work permit or provide the approval letter by Immigration that was given for the work permit; Proposed itinerary; Confirmation you are willing to enter a government-mandated quarantine facility for 14 days; Evidence of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test (for a nasopharyngeal sample taken not more than 72 hours before departure). The test result must be in the form of the complete report from the laboratory that performed the test.
A nationwide curfew is in effect from 11pm to 4am each night. Gatherings of up to 100 individuals are now allowed. This applies to weddings, funerals, conferences, community gatherings, cafes and restaurants. Domestic travel is returning to normal following the end of the suspension of travel to Fiji’s outer islands. Fiji’s authorities are encouraging social distancing, good hand hygiene and are urging those who have cold/flu symptoms to stay at home. Fiji Government is also encouraging residents to download the careFiji contact tracing app. In some instances e.g. at the airport, you will be required to show you have this on your phone. Some hotels and rental accommodation are open, and social distancing measures are in place. Public places are open including shops, restaurants, places of worship, cinemas and swimming pools.
